About Carpathian Safari

Three generations of guide-wardens. One promise: you hunt with us, not for us.

We are a Romanian family outfitter based in Brașov. Founded in 2008. Never franchised. Every hunter who books with Carpathian Safari is personally guided by our own staff — on terrain we manage, under permits we hold.

Our story

The same ridges. Three generations later.

Our grandfather hunted Carpathian bear with a horse and a breech-loader on the same slopes where your guide will glass from today. The mountains haven't changed. The technology has — thermal optics, satellite comms, helicopter-assisted trophy extraction — but the ethic is identical: fair-chase, free-range, taken at the right moment by a hunter who earned the shot.

We turn away hunters every season. Not because we're precious — because we are finite. We hold 47,000 hectares of concession. We have 31 full-time staff. We run a fixed number of expedition slots per species per season, and we do not exceed them. That discipline is why our success rates have stayed above 85% for eighteen consecutive years.

There are cheaper outfitters. There are flashier ones. None of them have been doing this, on this ground, with the same families, since 2008.

What we stand for

Four things we will not negotiate on.

Ministry-licensed

CAEN 0170 commercial hunting authorisation. Annual quotas issued directly by the Romanian Ministry of Environment — no grey-market workarounds, ever.

47,000 hectares

Exclusive long-term management contracts across Bucegi, Făgăraș, Apuseni, Maramureș and the Eastern Carpathians. Six species, five ecoregions, one outfitter.

State-certified guides

Every expedition is led by a Romanian state-certified guide-warden with a minimum of 15 years on this specific ground — not seasonal contractors hired for peak season.

127 CIC gold medals

127 gold-medal CIC entries since 2010. Spring bear success rate 89%. Red stag 94%. Numbers that exist because we refuse to put clients on marginal animals.

Proof, not promises

Why hunters who research this deeply book with us.

Most outfitters sell experiences. We sell outcomes. Every number below is auditable — verifiable against Ministry records, CITES documents and client itineraries.

  • Operated every season since 2008 — no gaps, no ownership changes
  • Full-time staff of 31: guides, wardens, drivers, lodge teams
  • Firearm import authorisation handled end-to-end — average 7 days
  • CITES trophy export coordinated before you board your return flight
  • Trophy loss rate: 0% in 18 seasons (field-dressed under guide supervision)
  • Client return rate: 61% book a second expedition within two years

The guides

Your guide is not a seasonal hire. He lives on this ground.

I was trained as a forester. I think like a forester. My clients come home with better trophies because of it.

With thirty beaters, eight guns, and five hundred hectares to cover, the hunt becomes a living, moving force. My role is to read the land and stay one step ahead.

Where we operate

Five ecoregions. One team responsible for all of them.

Our concessions span Southern Carpathians (Bucegi, Făgăraș, Piatra Craiului), the Apuseni Plateau, Maramureș, the Eastern Carpathians and the Danube Delta wetlands. Each terrain is managed by a dedicated specialist team — not rotated staff, not seasonal contractors.

The Romanian state owns the wildlife and issues the quotas. We hold the management contracts and the responsibility: to the species, to the landscape, and to every hunter who travels to hunt with us.
